Türkiye's central government budget posted a TRY 378.1 billion deficit in July as expenditures rose 59.8% year on year to TRY 1.79 trillion, outpacing a 28.8% increase in revenue to TRY 1.41 trillion. Over January to July, the deficit reached TRY 1.32 trillion, with revenues of TRY 9.19 trillion, expenditures of TRY 10.52 trillion and tax collections of TRY 7.85 trillion. Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said fiscal discipline remained intact despite geopolitical pressures, highlighting a TRY 470 billion non-interest budget surplus for the first seven months and an 87% domestic debt rollover ratio while saying tax measures under the sliding scale system and softer domestic demand were affecting revenue performance as the government pursues disinflation.
