China Automotive Systems, Inc. said subsidiary Jingzhou Henglong Automotive Parts Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was named a national-level "Green Factory" for 2025 by MIIT (China's industry ministry), giving the company two such national-level designations. The award follows a similar recognition in December 2023 for Hubei Henglong Automotive Systems Group Co., Ltd.'s Dongfang Avenue plant and, the company said, marks a new stage in its green manufacturing buildout. CAAS said it has aligned its efforts with China's "14th Five-Year Plan for Industrial Green Development" and the "Implementation Plan for Carbon Peaking in the Industrial Sector," using a pilot plant to roll out measures including digital workshop retrofits, an 8MW rooftop photovoltaic power project, waste-heat recovery from air compressors and treated wastewater reuse. Chief Executive Officer Qizhou Wu said the company plans to use the two benchmark facilities to drive green retrofitting and low-carbon upgrades across more subsidiaries. Based in Hubei Province, CAAS supplies power steering components and systems through 16 Sino-foreign joint ventures and wholly owned subsidiaries, with annual production capacity of more than 8 million sets of steering gears, columns and steering hoses.
