OpenAI has signed a 10-gigawatt Ohio data-center agreement with SoftBank-backed SB Energy, and Nvidia is negotiating a direct investment of up to $3 billion in the project as the companies shape what could become one of the largest AI computing campuses ever built. The proposed investment would be split into $1.5 billion at signing and another $1.5 billion tied to SB Energy's planned IPO, while the Pike County facility is expected to begin coming online around 2028 and could cost more than $500 billion if fully built out. The latest structure appears to focus Nvidia's capital on energy and infrastructure rather than direct hardware deployment and reduces proposed guarantees tied to OpenAI's leasing capacity to less than $120 billion from roughly $250 billion, materially revising earlier reports that had described a $1.5 billion Nvidia investment and an 8 IT-GW lease structure.
