Moscow Exchange plans to introduce cash-settled perpetual futures on Bitcoin and Ethereum as early as September 2026 for qualified and professional investors, extending a crypto derivatives business it began in 2025 and aligning the launch with Russia's new digital currency law taking effect on September 1. The exchange's structure will use automatic rollover of one-day contracts to replicate the perpetual format common on offshore crypto venues while keeping trading within a regulated, centrally cleared market. Maria Patrikeeva, MOEX's Managing Director of the Derivatives Market, confirmed the plans and signaled a broader expansion to a 10-token lineup. MOEX has already added futures indices tied to Solana, XRP, Tron and BNB alongside Bitcoin and Ethereum. The new law sets licensing rules for exchanges and digital asset custodians and creates a formal framework for digital-asset trading in Russia, while keeping in place a ban on using cryptocurrency as a means of payment inside the country.
