The Supreme Court for a second time refused President Trump’s bid to undo the $5 million civil judgment awarded to writer E. Jean Carroll after a 2023 jury found that he had sexually abused and defamed her. In a routine order issued Monday, the justices declined Trump’s request that they reconsider their earlier refusal to hear the appeal, offering no explanation and noting no dissents. Trump paid Carroll in July, days after the court first turned away his appeal. He has separately asked the court to overturn a larger 2024 award in Carroll’s favor.
