Gravis Robotics is raising $200 million from SoftBank in a Series A round that values the Zurich-based startup at about $1 billion post-money. The 2022 ETH Zurich spinout develops AI retrofit systems for existing excavators, loaders and other heavy construction machinery, and has said the round is the largest Series A financing in construction robotics. Its Gravis Rack control kit supports fully autonomous operation or AI-assisted driving across machines from brands including Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo, JCB and Hitachi, with the company claiming efficiency gains of up to 30%.
