Binance is preparing to apply for Financial Conduct Authority authorization in Britain when the UK's crypto application window opens on Sept. 30, 2026, a step that could eventually allow regulated services for UK users to resume after the new regime takes effect on Oct. 25, 2027. The move would be Binance's latest effort to rebuild a regulated UK presence after the FCA said in June 2021 that Binance Markets Limited could not conduct regulated activities without prior written consent and after the exchange stopped accepting new UK customers in 2023 following tougher financial promotions rules. The authorization window runs through Feb. 28, 2027, and filing within that period may allow firms to rely on transitional arrangements while applications are reviewed, though an application would not amount to a temporary license or guarantee approval. The new framework extends FCA oversight across activities including trading, custody, staking, lending and some stablecoin services, and would subject authorized firms to capital, governance, custody, financial-crime and consumer-protection standards, as well as broader supervisory tests on fitness and ongoing compliance. Binance has not confirmed that it has filed or identified which legal entity would apply, and the FCA's existing restrictions on Binance Markets Limited remain in force.
