Xos, Inc. shares surged 123.44% to $4.67 in premarket trading Tuesday after the electric fleet and energy solutions company said it secured its first military award, a prototype Other Transaction Agreement from the United States Air Force to develop and deliver a ruggedized, deployable mobile charging system for electrified defense support equipment and vehicles. The award, made through the Air Force Global Strike Command Rapid Capabilities Division 2026 Showcase, marks Xos's entry into the defense market and extends its Xos Hub mobile battery energy storage system beyond commercial fleets, ports and municipalities into military applications. Xos said the system will be designed in California and built at its Byrdstown, Tennessee facility, with performance extending into late 2027. Chief Executive Officer Dakota Semler called the selection a "strategic inflection point" that validates the dual-use potential of the company's commercial platform, while Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer Giordano Sordoni said the award shows Xos can quickly adapt commercial technology for national security missions.
