HEM Pharma raises 54 billion won in CBs, to build second Sejong plant

HEM Pharma said it completed a 54 billion won ($40 million) convertible bond issuance backed by domestic institutional investors including the National Growth Fund, with proceeds earmarked for a second plant in Sejong, automation of its gut microbiome analysis operations, working capital and a call option on earlier CBs. The company plans to spend 27 billion won ($20 million) on the new facility to support rising demand tied to products being developed with Amway. In June, it received a first formal order worth about 4.6 billion won for Nutrilite Probiotics from Access Business Group, Amway's supply-chain arm, ahead of a Korean launch next month through Amway Korea. HEM Pharma also allocated 7.5 billion won to automate the full gut microbiome analysis process, with a goal of more than doubling minimum processing volume by the end of next year and lifting capacity to more than five times current levels by the end of 2028 as it targets markets including the United States. Separately, part of the operating funds will support Vignal, an AI-based autonomous health management platform that analyzes biosignals through a toilet-mounted device. CEO Ji Joseph said the investment shows confidence from both public and private sectors in the company's global growth potential.
