Bithumb said it will temporarily suspend ELF deposits and withdrawals from 9:20 a.m. UTC on Aug. 18 at the request of the aelf foundation, becoming the latest South Korean exchange to interrupt transfers involving the token after Upbit previously paused ELF for an aelf network upgrade. Bithumb did not disclose the reason behind the request or provide an end time, and told users to watch for further notices on when services will resume. The move blocks transfers of ELF into and out of the exchange during the suspension, while trading is expected to continue because only deposit and withdrawal functions are affected. Such pauses are common during blockchain maintenance, upgrades or other technical work to reduce the risk of failed transfers and protect user funds, and they can also disrupt arbitrage and liquidity management for active traders.
