Bitcoin.org has reached the 18th anniversary of its registration by Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto, marking a milestone in the digital asset's early development. Nakamoto registered the domain on Aug. 18, 2008. In October that year, a related path on the site was used to publish the Bitcoin white paper, and in January 2009 the genesis block (the first block in a blockchain) was mined, starting the Bitcoin network. Over time, bitcoin.org served as a key platform for Bitcoin protocol documentation, client download guidance and basic educational material, making it one of the internet assets most closely tied to Bitcoin's path from an idea to global adoption.
