Balaji Srinivasan said Network School has resumed operations in Kazakhstan, reopening in Astana less than a month after Malaysian authorities shut its base in Johor's Forest City. Srinivasan, the former Coinbase tech chief and Andreessen Horowitz investor, said the project is again accepting applicants to help build a "techno-optimist society" with low living costs, global talent recruitment, and strong STEM training. Founded in 2024, Network School presents itself as a private, membership-based co-living and coworking community for tech founders, crypto builders, and digital nomads. Its move follows disputes with Malaysia, where the higher education ministry said the school was not registered as a private higher education institution and immigration authorities investigated allegations involving Israeli nationals before later saying the foreigners inspected held valid documents. The school's new website says the Astana campus was built in partnership with the government, is located on the fifth floor of Astana Hub, and will offer accommodation, meals, a gym, coworking space, technology training, and expedited visas. Basic memberships start at $900, while private apartments start at $3,000 a month.
