Digital identity is moving beyond traditional KYC (know-your-customer checks) and risk assessment to become a core link between users and financial products, Gate Europe CEO Dr. Giovanni Cunti said in a LinkedIn post. He argued that as digital assets, online banking, digital payments and tokenized financial products continue to develop, the industry must balance faster access to financial services with security, privacy and trust. Cunti said next-generation identity infrastructure should go beyond one-off verification and combine security, privacy, compliance and user experience in a single framework. Reliable identity verification, he said, can reduce repetitive information submission and other unnecessary operating costs while improving transparency and protection around the collection, storage and use of personal data. He added that regulatory standards are a foundation for trust in digital finance. For digital asset platforms, the need for trusted infrastructure increases as business models broaden from cryptocurrency trading to stablecoins, tokenized assets, payments and multi-asset financial solutions. Gate Europe said it has completed a dual-licensing setup for MiCA (EU crypto-asset rules) and PI under the Malta Financial Services Authority, or MFSA (Malta financial regulator), and said secure access, robust compliance processes and responsible handling of user information are essential to the long-term development of financial services.
