A 2021 firmware flaw in Coldcard hardware wallets has been linked to confirmed thefts totaling about 714.8 Bitcoin, valued at more than $115 million as of August 16, 2023. The vulnerability allowed attackers to predict wallet seeds and take private keys, a critical failure for a device designed to keep signing credentials offline and resistant to compromise.
