South Korea’s KOSPI rebounded 5.89% on Aug. 20 to close at 6,852.58, after earlier intraday data showed a 6.28% gain to around 6,830. Samsung Electronics rose 9.49% and SK hynix gained 12.73%, leading a recovery supported by easing long-term U.S. Treasury yields, planned increases in U.S. debt buybacks and overnight gains in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq. Single-stock leveraged and inverse ETF trading volume reached 1.06 trillion won ($758.0 million), up 35.2% from the previous day, as retail investors took profits on leveraged positions while also buying inverse products and foreign investors bought SK hynix-linked leveraged ETFs.
