Block's Cash App, which had 59 million active users as of June 2026, has widened crypto access for eligible U.S. customers by letting them fund MoonPay purchases with their Cash App balances. The Cash App Pay integration, announced on Aug. 18, allows users to buy assets including ether, Solana's SOL, XRP and USDT through MoonPay's checkout and 10 partner platforms without a separate login, extending access beyond Cash App's native bitcoin and USDC support while leaving MoonPay to handle the underlying infrastructure, onboarding and delivery. Morgan Kuntze said bitcoin remains central to Block's digital-asset strategy even as the company gives customers more payment choice. The move extends a shift that began with Cash App's USDC rollout earlier in 2026, despite Jack Dorsey's past criticism of stablecoins. For MoonPay, the deal adds Cash App Pay to earlier PayPal and Venmo funding options and supports its expansion beyond fiat-to-crypto on-ramp roots. MoonPay said it operates with a BitLicense and Limited Purpose Trust Charter from the New York State Department of Financial Services and under the EU's MiCA regime in the Netherlands.
