Crypto payment card spending reached $759 million in July, up from $306 million a year earlier, as nearly 9 million purchases pushed average ticket size to about $86 and highlighted rising use of stablecoins for everyday transactions. A16z crypto, citing Paymentscan data, said USDC and USDT accounted for a combined 84% of tracked card volume, with USDC at about 58% and USDT at 26%. Optimism led blockchain settlement with roughly 29% of spending, followed by Solana and Base at 19% each, while Gnosis fell to about 2% as euro-backed EURe lost share. The dataset combines on-chain activity tied to card programs with self-reported figures from RedotPay, the largest issuer by tracked volume. Even after rapid growth from less than $1 million in October 2023, crypto card payments remain small relative to traditional card networks, which process trillions of dollars each month.
