The Port of Los Angeles, the busiest seaport in the United States, recorded its second-highest July container volume after processing 960,464 TEUs, with imports totaling 499,552 TEUs. Executive director Gene Seroka said resilient demand for consumer goods and for equipment used in manufacturing and data center construction supported the result, and he said current activity points to another month above 900,000 container units in August. The nearby Port of Long Beach also posted its second-busiest July, handling 928,508 TEUs overall and 467,461 TEUs of imports, underscoring steady cargo flows through Southern California. Seroka and other industry experts said peak season arrived early this year as some retailers brought in holiday goods before 10% global Section 122 tariffs expired in late July, though imports are expected to moderate later in the year under a National Retail Federation forecast.
