State Rep. Angie Nixon won Florida’s Democratic Senate primary over Alex Vindman, a former director for European Affairs at the National Security Council, prompting Sabato’s Crystal Ball to shift the general-election race from “likely Republican” to “safely Republican.” Nixon is expected to face Republican Sen. Ashley Moody, who was appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to fill the vacancy left by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and has been endorsed by President Trump. Moody had more than $8.4 million in cash on hand, compared with just over $260,000 for Nixon and $7 million for Vindman. Nixon says her campaign will focus on working-class voters, lower costs, higher incomes and economic opportunity.
