KakaoBank and Coinone have renewed their real-name verified deposit and withdrawal account partnership for one year through August 2027, preserving the banking link that allows Coinone users to move won for virtual-asset trading. Coinone said the companies reviewed the adequacy of their anti-money laundering systems through an on-site inspection and completed an amended filing with the Financial Intelligence Unit after the contract extension. The companies first partnered in August 2022 and plan to deepen cooperation by strengthening links between their services to attract users and improve convenience. KakaoBank’s app already includes a "My Virtual Assets" page that lets users view digital assets held at Coinone and move directly to Coinone’s services. Chief Executive Officer Cha Myung-hoon said Coinone would work to maintain an environment where customers can trade with confidence while expanding cooperation with KakaoBank. Real-name banking partnerships are a key compliance requirement for South Korean crypto exchanges because they connect trading platforms to verified local-currency accounts.
