Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation sold 450,000 shares, or 0.6% of SGI Seoul Guarantee Insurance, through a pre-market block sale on the 19th, recovering 19 billion won ($13.7 million) in public funds. The transaction reduced KDIC’s holding to 78.91% from 79.56% and raised cumulative recoveries to 5.4975 trillion won out of the 10.25 trillion won in principal injected into the insurer, equivalent to a 53.64% recovery rate. KDIC said it would explore various options for selling its remaining stake, with the timing to be reviewed through the Public Fund Oversight Committee in a way that minimizes the impact on the share price. Because KDIC remains the controlling shareholder with roughly 79% ownership, full privatization is expected to take time.
