Kakao Pay Securities said 30,000 people joined its "stock wedding gift" campaign about two weeks after launch, with 37% of applicants not holding an existing account at the brokerage. The promotion gives couples who registered their marriage this year domestic stocks worth 50,000 won ($36) per person, or as much as 100,000 won per couple, once they verify their marriage. Participation reached 15,000 within five days, passed 20,000 before 10 days, and exceeded 30,000 in the first week of August. People in their 30s accounted for 71.7% of participants, followed by those in their 20s at 23.9% and 40s at 4.2%, with some applicants also in their 50s and 60s. The company said the campaign is helping bring in new users trying stock investing for the first time around marriage and plans to consider similar programs for other life milestones such as childbirth and starting a job.
