Samsung Electronics' largest union, the Samsung Group Super-Enterprise Labor Union Samsung Branch, will not form a joint bargaining unit with the Donghaeng Union for 2027 wage negotiations and has formally proposed separate bargaining. With about 53,400 members, it expects to become the representative union under the multi-union bargaining-channel system, compared with about 30,500 members for the DX-focused Donghaeng Union. The Super-Enterprise Union plans to prioritize working conditions in the semiconductor DS division, particularly for System LSI and Foundry Business employees, while saying separate compensation demands may still be pursued for DX workers. Donghaeng plans a rally near Samsung's Seocho headquarters on the 21st, where it is seeking additional compensation, including 1,000 treasury shares per DX employee. The dispute reflects widening performance and compensation differences between DS, which is benefiting from higher memory prices, and DX, where rising component costs have sharply reduced profitability.
