NVIDIA has secured exclusive rights to host its AI compute infrastructure at SB Energy’s PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Pike County, Ohio, with OpenAI as the primary customer. The project is anchored by a $1.5 billion NVIDIA investment and is planned to begin with 4.25 IT-GW of capacity, with potential expansion to 8 IT-GW. Existing SEC filings separately show NVIDIA’s aggregate payment obligations under its initial commitment are capped at $105 billion, subject to conditions including ready-for-service requirements, with the first commitments expected to begin in 2028. The campus is also expected to include an initial 800 megawatts of power capacity and operate under a 20-year OpenAI lease that makes NVIDIA the exclusive chip provider. The facility will use NVIDIA’s DSX AI factory platform, combining GPUs, CPUs and networking. SB Energy and SoftBank have pledged tens of thousands of jobs and $4.2 billion in local grid infrastructure investment, while OpenAI has committed $80 million to a community benefits fund. The development forms part of NVIDIA’s broader push into end-to-end AI infrastructure as demand for generative AI computing grows.
