Bitcoin.com has added USDU to its self-custodial web and mobile wallet, allowing users to hold, send and receive the ERC-20 token on Ethereum while keeping control of their private keys. The integration, announced on August 19, 2026, marks USDU's first meaningful retail push after earlier distribution efforts focused on professional and institutional channels, including a June 2026 deal with AI Financial Corporation, July custody support from Zodia and an August USDT-USDU pool on Uniswap. Universal Digital says USDU was registered with the Central Bank of the UAE on January 29, 2026 as the first and still only U.S. dollar-backed Foreign Payment Token, backed 1:1 by liquid dollar reserves with monthly independent attestations, although the token remains limited to professional clients and designated use cases rather than general dirham payments. Bitcoin.com said swaps, peer-to-peer payments, education tools and payment acceptance for some of its services are planned, while no public market cap or circulating supply figures have been disclosed.
