China's robot industry generated more than 300 billion yuan in revenue at above-scale enterprises in 2025, after averaging annual growth of more than 20% over the past five years, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xin Guobin said at the opening of the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing on Aug. 19. Revenue reached 165.5 billion yuan in the first half of 2026, up 24.5% from a year earlier. As the 15th Five-Year Plan begins, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will prioritize intelligence and practical applications, focusing on core components and embodied intelligence while promoting deployment in agriculture, healthcare, elderly care and emergency response. Xin also highlighted gaps in intelligence and operational capability, and called for technology development that balances efficiency gains with employment security and human development.
