Smith+Nephew shares fell 3.5% after CFO John Rogers resigned from the board with immediate effect, although he is due to leave the medical-products company on Sept. 30 for an external position in the United States. The company has begun searching for his successor. Pierre Palassian, Senior Vice President Finance and Group Controller, will serve as interim chief financial officer until a permanent replacement is appointed. Rogers took the CFO role in early 2024 and relocated to the United States in 2025 for operational efficiencies. His departure follows Smith+Nephew's decision to cut its annual revenue growth forecast after weaker-than-expected second-quarter sales, hurt by soft U.S. demand for knee and hip implants and pressure on skin substitute pricing. Shares in the FTSE 100 company had gained nearly 14% during Rogers' tenure. Smith+Nephew said Rogers would receive no severance, while his outstanding incentive and share awards will lapse on Sept. 30 under leaver rules.
