TRON has released GreatVoyage v4.8.2, codenamed Pyrrho, as a mandatory network upgrade. Node operators must update their nodes before 23:59 Singapore Time on Aug. 16 to prevent block synchronization issues. The release enhances TVM compatibility with Ethereum’s Pectra and Osaka upgrades by adding the CLZ instruction and a secp256r1 signature-verification precompile. It also migrates the node JSON API from fastjson to Jackson, moves monitoring metrics from InfluxDB to Prometheus, and upgrades the TRON Event Plugin to version 3.0.0. Operators using the Event Plugin must upgrade it before the node. The changes aim to align TRON’s virtual machine with the Ethereum ecosystem, easing smart-contract porting for developers and broadening cross-chain compatibility. Beyond the virtual machine, these infrastructure updates modernize network tooling without altering consensus rules. TRON hosts a large share of stablecoin activity, including a substantial portion of USDT supply, so the upgrade carries operational weight for wallets, exchanges, and indexers dependent on the network. The development team urged proactive operator updates to avoid service disruptions.
