AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li warned that growing anti-AI sentiment in the United States could pose risks to global artificial-intelligence development. In a Bloomberg interview, she urged technology professionals to communicate more effectively with the public and show how AI can improve health care, scientific research and productivity. Li said the U.S. has an important influence on global technology and that failing to present a positive AI direction could affect the world. The computer-vision researcher also highlighted social acceptance, public trust and regulation as challenges alongside technical development. Her AI startup World Labs is working on spatial intelligence, AI that understands and interacts with physical space. The warning comes as generative AI spreads rapidly and major technology companies increase investment in large models, AI infrastructure and intelligent agents, while debate over regulation, job displacement and wider social effects intensifies.
