The Ibovespa (Brazil's benchmark stock index) rose 0.9% to close at 167,830 on Wednesday, ending eleven consecutive sessions of losses as global bond yields stabilized. Yields in major economies declined after the US Treasury said it would double long-term security buybacks. Financial stocks mostly gained, including Itaú at 0.5%, Banco do Brasil at 1.6% and B3 at 0.8%. Petrobras climbed 1.2% as oil futures rose for a fourth straight session amid fading prospects for a deal to end the conflict in the Middle East. Vale advanced 0.8% on iron ore supply concerns following failed wage negotiations between BHP and workers in Port Hedland, while CSN Mineração rose 2.2%. Steelmakers moved lower, with Gerdau tumbling 5.2% and CSN falling 2.4%. Axia gained 1.8% after reporting its share buyback results and receiving a buy recommendation from Itaú BBA. Embraer closed 0.2% lower after erasing earlier gains following Itaú BBA's price-target increase. Rede D'Or rose 2.6% and Sabesp gained 1%.
