Beam Global reported second-quarter revenue of $8.6 million, up 174% from the first quarter and 21% year over year, beating the $8.15 million analyst estimate. Earnings per share came in at -$0.14, ahead of the estimated -$0.20. The company also cited a 17.8% gross margin, lower operating expenses, no debt, a $5.4 million backlog and access to a $100 million unused credit line. Shares rose 26.45% to $1.53 in after-hours trading after gaining 5.22% to close at $1.21 in the regular session. CEO Desmond Wheatley said European operations now generate about half of revenue and that the company is building demand in the Middle East.
