Global sales of electric trucks and buses rose 86% year-on-year to more than 500,000 units in 2025, according to a report published Thursday by the International Council on Clean Transportation. China drove most of the increase, accounting for nearly 90% of worldwide sales, while the European Union and India also posted double-digit growth. Sales of medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks in China more than quintupled over two years. Outside China and the United States, battery electric buses made up 56% of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicle sales, with about 9,800 units sold in the European Union and 5,000 in India. Battery electric truck sales outside China remained relatively low at about 41,000 units. In the European Union, electric truck sales increased 71% and reached a 4.5% market share.
