South Korean payments company NHN KCP (060250.KQ) has signed a memorandum of understanding with LINE NEXT to integrate the company’s Unifi Pay wallet and payments infrastructure into NHN KCP’s payment gateway. The planned arrangement would let overseas users buy goods and services from South Korean merchants with stablecoins held in their wallets, without separately registering a Korean credit card or bank account, while merchants retain their existing NHN KCP payment environment and add global customers without building blockchain infrastructure. LINE NEXT says the service has secured more than 100 wallet payment integrations, and stablecoins accounted for more than 30% of payments versus cash in some game business-to-consumer and consumer-to-consumer services. It plans to expand support beyond USDT and JPYC to stablecoins based on major Asian currencies. The companies are also preparing for potential won-pegged stablecoin services, subject to future laws and licensing standards. No launch date or initial participating merchants have been announced.
