The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea, or AMCHAM, and U.S. Ambassador to Korea Michelle Steel discussed expanding Korea-U.S. trade and investment cooperation at a meeting attended by senior executives from major U.S. companies operating in Korea. The meeting, held Thursday, marked Steel’s first official engagement with business leaders since she took office late last month. Participants highlighted the importance of a predictable business environment aligned with global standards for sustaining U.S. investment and supporting smooth operations in Korea. The discussion also covered ways to underscore the Korea-U.S. alliance and economic partnership, including the joint U.S. Embassy-AMCHAM initiative Freedom 250. AMCHAM Chairman James Kim said Steel’s early engagement demonstrated the importance of American companies to the bilateral economic partnership.
