SoftBank’s latest 13F institutional holdings disclosure, filed with the SEC on August 14, shows the Japanese conglomerate held 86,956,522 Intel shares worth roughly $12.14 billion. The position accounted for about 67% of its $18 billion U.S. equity portfolio and was unchanged from the March 31 reporting date, with no shares added during the second quarter of 2026. Symbotic was SoftBank’s second-largest holding at approximately $1.79 billion, or 9.85% of the portfolio, while T-Mobile ranked third at $1.68 billion, or roughly 9.23%. The Intel stake originated with a $2 billion strategic investment finalized during the third quarter of 2025, as Intel pursued a turnaround amid pressure from AMD, Nvidia and an AI-driven shift in semiconductor demand. The concentration gives SoftBank a significant presence on Intel’s shareholder register: a 10% move in Intel would change the value of SoftBank’s disclosed U.S. equity portfolio by roughly $1.2 billion, while any decision to reduce the stake could affect Intel’s stock. A newer description attributed the 67% position to Masayoshi Son, but the SEC filing identifies the disclosed holding as SoftBank’s.
