Hovnanian Enterprises swung to a third-quarter loss as it navigated a challenging housing market marked by steep rates and weak consumer sentiment. The home builder reported revenue of $705.75 million and a loss of 70 cents per share, both below analyst expectations because of delivery delays and weak joint venture income. The company posted a $1.8 million loss for the three months ended July 31, compared with a $16.6 million profit a year earlier, while adjusted gross margin exceeded guidance. Hovnanian shares fell 11.94%.
