August continues to set records for dormant bitcoin spends as 28 long-inactive wallets transferred 1,314.41 BTC worth $94.03 million in a 24-hour period. Wallets created in 2014 supplied 1,214.42 BTC or 92.4% of the volume, valued at about $86 million, including 21 transactions of exactly 50 BTC each from addresses first used in November or December 2014. Most funds moved from legacy P2PKH addresses to newer P2WPKH SegWit addresses, with several transactions occurring in the same block. Destination addresses remain unlinked to exchanges by Arkham Intelligence and received low privacy scores. Additional transfers included 150 BTC from another 2014 wallet and smaller amounts from 2016 and 2017 wallets. The 2014 holders, who acquired bitcoin between $310 and $427, have seen gains of at least 16,645%.
