USDT demand appears resilient globally despite European Union delistings following the full implementation of MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) in December 2024. The framework requires stablecoin issuers to obtain authorization and maintain adequate reserves, prompting exchanges including Coinbase and Kraken to delist USDT for European customers. Artemis researcher Alex Weseley told Cointelegraph that data showed no clear MiCA-related change in USDT supply, demand or cross-chain movement. Demand remains supported in emerging markets such as Argentina, Turkey and Nigeria, where USDT is used for payments, remittances and savings amid volatile currencies, inflation and limited access to traditional banking.
