The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, known as ECLAC, expects regional gross domestic product to expand 2.2% in 2026, down from 2.4% in 2025 and below its previous 2.3% forecast issued in December. Growth is projected at 2.5% in 2027. The commission said the region is on track to complete five consecutive years of average annual growth of around 2.3% by 2027, despite gradual improvement in external conditions. Low investment, weak productivity and high informal employment are expected to constrain expansion. ECLAC also expects macroeconomic stability and inflation to move closer to central-bank targets. Brazil is forecast to grow 2.2% in both 2026 and 2027, Mexico 1.3% in 2026 and 1.9% in 2027, Argentina 3.3% and 3.4%, and Venezuela 6.5% in both years.
