inFlow Inventory has launched lot number and expiry date tracking for small and midsize manufacturers and distributors in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and medical device industries. The feature provides batch-level traceability across purchasing, production, sales and shipping, allowing businesses to follow inventory from receipt through customer delivery. The release, dated Aug. 21, 2026, follows two years of development and one year of testing with food manufacturers, pharmaceutical distributors and medical device companies. An earlier record listed the launch date as Aug. 20, 2026. Lot tracking, historically associated with high-end enterprise systems, is available on all current inFlow plans and included at no additional cost on Mid-Size plans and above. New customers can use it during a free trial. The system records each lot's movement history, calculates expiry dates from shelf-life settings, identifies expired or at-risk inventory, and prioritizes picking through first-expired-first-out rules. It supports GS1 QR codes, GS1-128 barcodes and GS1 DataMatrix, as well as GS1 Digital Link QR codes for company labels. Users can track lot numbers and serial numbers together, scan batches in inFlow Inventory for Web, inFlow Manufacturing and inFlow Mobile, and manage batch data through standardized codes, custom fields and bulk imports or exports. The product is aimed at food and beverage producers, contract manufacturers and commissary kitchens, pharmaceutical distributors and pharmacies, medical device companies, supplement and cosmetics brands, and specialty chemical businesses. inFlow says these companies often face traceability and shelf-life requirements without the budget for an enterprise resource planning system or a dedicated IT department.
