49th Parallel Wealth Management has expanded its free cross-border retirement toolkit with Cross-Border Day Tracker, a mobile and desktop app for people whose lives span the United States and Canada. The app, identified in the company’s Aug. 20, 2026 release as launching on Aug. 19, counts days spent in each country and calculates users’ position under the IRS Substantial Presence Test, which can determine U.S. tax residency for non-citizens. It is available for web download and is being offered on Apple’s App Store this week, with an Android release expected shortly. The no-sign-up tool includes a tap-to-log calendar, year-by-year calculations using the current year and two preceding years, forward-looking safe-days projections, and links to IRS and CRA guidance. The launch is part of a broader summer rollout that also includes 13 free cross-border planning tools and an audiobook version of founder Lucas Wennersten’s retirement guide, Crossing the 49th Parallel. A hardcover edition is in production. The firm says the tools provide general educational information rather than tax, legal or investment advice.
