The bond market largely shrugged off Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s unusual effort to contain rising government borrowing costs on Thursday. The 30-year bond yield climbed to 5.27 percent in early trading before easing to 5.24 percent, erasing more than half of the decline in costs that followed Bessent’s intervention.
