Ramp has launched an alpha integration that lets AI agents make autonomous USDC payments on Solana through the x402 protocol. Used by more than 70,000 organizations and responsible for more than $200 billion in annual business spending, Ramp connects agent wallets to corporate spend controls, attribution tracking and accounting infrastructure. Agents can fund their own wallets, pay for x402-gated APIs, data feeds and compute resources, while companies retain visibility into each purchase. x402 converts HTTP 402 Payment Required responses into machine-readable payment instructions, allowing agents to sign and submit payments before accessing a resource. The protocol has processed more than 200 million transactions across roughly 150,000 merchant endpoints, with approximately $50 billion in volume. Solana accounts for more than 35 million x402 transactions and about 70% of monthly volume across supported chains, supported by sub-400 millisecond finality and fees below $0.001. Ramp’s alpha launch extends x402 from developer and consumer use cases into corporate finance workflows, alongside competing enterprise efforts from AWS and Stripe.
