Take-Two Interactive lost roughly $2.83 billion in market capitalization in under 48 hours after CyberLeek posted apparent live gameplay footage from Rockstar Games’ unreleased Grand Theft Auto 6. The stock fell from $248.13 on August 18 to an intraday low of $231.60 before partially recovering to close at $240.15 on August 21, up 1.31% on the day but still down 6.81% for the year; about $1.5 billion of the initial loss remained outstanding. CyberLeek’s releases also supported a cryptocurrency pump-and-dump scheme, with about 20 coordinated accounts reportedly driving the same-name token’s market value to several million dollars before organizers sold at the peak. A second group claimed access to internal Rockstar material, while fake GTA 6 downloads circulated as malware. Rockstar and Take-Two remained publicly silent, and the game remained scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with an extended official showcase scheduled for Netflix on August 27 before its YouTube release six hours later.
