Argentina’s economic activity rose 2.7% year over year in June 2026, according to national statistics agency INDEC, exceeding the 1.9% forecast by analysts polled by Reuters and accelerating from May’s upwardly revised 0.4% increase. Twelve of the 15 sectors tracked by the EMAE recorded annual growth, led by fishing and mining and quarrying. Agriculture, livestock, hunting and forestry also expanded, while public administration and defense, utilities, and education contracted. The Monthly Economic Activity Estimate rose 0.8% from May. The data comes as President Javier Milei’s government cuts public spending to curb inflation while seeking to revive industrial, consumer and construction activity.
