Meta Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg has bought Strancally Castle and its 440-acre estate in Waterford, Ireland, in a deal the Irish Times said could be worth more than $25 million. The three-story, 16,000-square-foot Gothic-style mansion was built around 1830 for former member of Parliament John Keily and renovated over the past two decades. Zuckerberg’s spokesman said he, his wife Dr. Priscilla Chan and their three children look forward to caring for the historic property and visiting Ireland, where Meta maintains its international headquarters. The estate adds to Zuckerberg’s extensive real estate holdings, which include properties in Hawaii, Washington, California, Lake Tahoe and Miami. He is also known for his interest in classical history and has named his daughters after Roman emperors. Bloomberg valued his net worth at more than $195 billion as of Thursday, making him the world’s seventh-richest person.
