Chainlink co-founder and CEO Sergey Nazarov said the United States must move its financial system on-chain as quickly as, or faster than, the global financial system to protect its position in global finance. Speaking at the first meeting of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Innovation Advisory Committee on Aug. 21, he praised the CFTC and Securities and Exchange Commission for beginning to cooperate more efficiently and constructively, saying the shift had strengthened the reputation and trust of U.S. financial markets. Nazarov said a unified regulatory vision could replace fragmented and conflicting rules that have hindered innovation. He said regulatory uncertainty had led hundreds of developers to leave the United States over the past seven years. Chainlink provides data and cross-chain infrastructure to thousands of applications and supports much of the decentralized finance ecosystem. Nazarov said tokenization of equities could bring substantial value on-chain. With U.S. equities accounting for about 60% of global equity-market value and trading flows, he argued that the United States must move at least as quickly as other markets or risk losing innovation and market leadership.
