Nvidia has agreed to pay $6 billion (approximately NT$190 billion) in model licensing fees to AI coding startup Poolside and has extended job offers to more than 100 of its employees. Simultaneously, Nvidia is making an additional $1 billion (approximately NT$32 billion) strategic investment in Poolside at a $12 billion valuation, excluding licensing fees, bringing the combined value of both arrangements to $7 billion (approximately NT$220 billion). The $6 billion licensing fee and the $1 billion investment are independent arrangements. Upon completion of the deal, Poolside's existing shareholders will receive a dividend payout from the funds provided by Nvidia, while Poolside itself will continue to operate independently. Tech newsletter Newcomer first reported the transaction. Poolside, which has offices in both the United States and Paris, focuses on developing AI models for computer programming automation, particularly targeting government and defense software sectors. The company's technology direction is highly aligned with Nvidia's strategy to expand AI application scenarios across the wider economy.
