Zcash privacy could become an essential feature in an AI-driven financial monitoring environment, according to a research report released by Grayscale and reported by ChainCatcher. Zcash uses zero-knowledge proofs to shield transactions, concealing the sender, recipient and amount while providing cash-like privacy. Shielded transactions account for about 90% of Zcash transaction volume, while roughly 4.2 million ZEC, or 25% of circulating supply, is shielded. Grayscale estimates Zcash's market capitalization at about $8 billion, equal to 0.6% of the $1.4 trillion market for crypto assets categorized as currencies. If Zcash reached a 5% share of that segment, the report says ZEC's value would be nine times its current level. The analysis says the market's valuation assumes privacy will remain marginal, leaving room for potential undervaluation if investors assign privacy a moderate premium. It identifies regulation and quantum computing as long-term risks but says Zcash's shielding technology and selective-disclosure tools offer a potential path to compliance.
