The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KIBO), a state-run institution, is broadening its support for Korean small and medium-sized enterprise mergers and acquisitions beyond financing to include deal sourcing, brokering, guarantees and business succession. Through its public-private M&A platform, KIBO connected KOSDAQ-listed APS Innovation (079810.KQ) with private adviser Intercapital Partners, helping complete a 24.5 billion won ($17.7 million) package acquisition involving Irae and the business division of Irae Engineering. The deal adds cosmetics automation equipment to APS Innovation's secondary battery and display equipment operations, combining Irae's automated cosmetics filling and packaging technology with APS Innovation's precision machinery control, manufacturing capabilities and overseas infrastructure in the United States, Canada and China. KIBO also signed M&A financing agreements with Woori Bank, Kyongnam Bank, Hana Bank, Busan Bank and iM Bank, while working with Busan authorities and business groups on regional succession. The corporation said it plans to deepen cooperation with private specialists and financial institutions to support technology-driven M&A.
